Del Mar's People Are Our Greatest Strength

In addition to its extraordinary natural beauty, Del Mar is full of beautiful minds. Our residents bring expertise, practical experience, and a deep commitment to our community. That civic engagement helped shape Del Mar into the special place we love. It’s also what we need to protect it in the years ahead.



As I’ve listened to neighbors over the past few months, I’ve heard gratitude for those who have done the heavy lifting in the past, along with a desire for the next generation of voices to carry that work forward. I agree.

The rules governing our community are changing, often at the state level. We may not control every decision made in Sacramento, but we can control how thoughtfully and effectively Del Mar responds. That requires strong local leadership—and broad community engagement.

With just 3,148 registered voters, Del Mar is a small community. Every engaged resident can make a difference. Our commissions and committees depend on people willing to share their energy, expertise, and ideas.

That includes younger residents. Our sons are 23, 21, 19, and nearly 18, so I know firsthand how much insight and creativity their generation has to offer. That’s why I’m hosting a “meet and greet” specifically for that age group. To my older sons’ disappointment, there will not be a keg. There will, however, be Del Mar Pizza—and a conversation about what they hope for Del Mar’s future.

3. Help keep Del Mar working. Have a pothole that needs fixing? See a clogged storm drain? Submit a request to Public Works here. (While you’re at it, consider a word of thanks for their great work.)

We don’t need to change what makes Del Mar special. We do need engaged, thoughtful people to help protect it—and new voices to help navigate what comes next.
